The British Shorthair is one of the world’s oldest and most cherished cat breeds, admired for its plush, dense coat, solid muscular build, and unmistakable teddy bear appearance. Originating in Great Britain, the breed was developed from domestic cats that were refined through careful selective breeding over many generations. Today, the British Shorthair is renowned for its beauty, excellent health, and gentle temperament.

British Shorthairs are calm, affectionate, and loyal companions. They enjoy being close to their families without being overly demanding and are well suited to both busy households and quieter homes. Their easy-going nature, intelligence, and adaptability make them wonderful family pets.

At Kamdeboo Cattery, we have been breeding British Shorthairs since 2024 on a very small, carefully planned scale, producing just one litter each year. Our focus is on breeding healthy, well-socialised kittens that exemplify the wonderful qualities of this exceptional breed.

Our breeding programme is founded on our beautiful blue British Shorthairs: Queen Fidelio Poplap and our stud Lesbeaux Chats Yani. We have always been captivated by the breed’s unique teddy bear expression, powerful and cobby build, and the striking contrast of their brilliant copper eyes against their crisp, dense blue coats. It is our privilege to preserve these outstanding characteristics while breeding cats with excellent temperament, health, and breed type.
